So it’s about 2:00pm on Sunday afternoon, and the kids are exhausted. We just got back from a LONG car ride to a FAR away park. They are both ready to chill and take a nap. Kam goes to her room, and lays in bed while watching TV. My 19-month old Jax, acts tired… but really isn’t. I put him in his crib, kiss him, and tell him that I will see him in a couple of hours.

Well… as I walk away, he starts crying. Crying. Crying. And crying some more. I decide to just leave him in his room, and to not go get him. I decide to clean the house. A clean house = a clean mind = a clean life

I am in the master bathroom cleaning away…for about 15 minutes or so… and I hear a little laugh. I turn around and guess who is there… Yep… my son! I immediately go to Kameryn’s room and ask her why she got him out of the crib. Her response: “I didn’t mom… I kept hearing someone banging on his door, and I opened the door, and there he was”.

I couldn’t believe it. So I decided to put it to test… Sure enough, this little rascal can get out of his crib on his OWN.

Oh yeah this looks like his “uh oh” face doesn’t it?

I took my mama to New Orleans a couple weeks ago, and fell in love with NOLA all over again. The beautiful colors, architectures, doors, windows, locks, and the amazing warmth that this city brings. I decided to post photos of what I found beautiful while visiting, and it happens to be doors… mostly. Hope you enjoy!

{A Photog’s Nightmare}

I had completely forgotten about this lovely collection of images of my beautiful daughter that I had taken over the summer. I have so many ideas that run through my head that often get put aside due to my lack of time, or limited access to things that can make my visions come to life. On this day I remember driving home, and perfectly imagining these colors put together, surrounded by leaves. I got home, asked… well begged Kameryn to dress up in this lovely outfit, got our vintage chair, and hopped on the neighbors yard to take these images.

I was happy that they came out allright, but not too happy that the MINI session lasted only 5-minutes. Kameryn was already tired of it after a few minutes, and as I remember correctly, tears were involved, and just a really unhappy little girl. I don’t know why it’s so hard to get my kids to just sit there and take a few pictures. I think it’s every photographer’s nightmare. As much as we try, bribe, discuss, tell, yell, beg… they (our kids) just don’t want any part of it. You get them to agree to it… and then a little bit of time passes, and they just completely loose the agreement. They start whining, crying, and it just seems like it’s the worse thing in the world for them to just pose for more than 30-seconds. I typically have this planned out but it always ends the same. Pouting, non-coorperating child!

Nonetheless… here’s my little girl. My angel. My love. My daughter!

First and foremost I need to start this special blog by saying that Crystal Ashmore with Serendipity-Photography took these fabulous images. You see, in the photography world, you get perks One of the perks is that you get to meet amazing people that are so talented, and you also get to trade photography work with great photogs. HA! So Crystal and I did a trade…She got to photograph moi and my boyfriend {yep I have a boyfriend} – and I get to photograph her and her sweet family in a couple weeks! Isn’t that awesome? Now, I have to say that all the images were taken by Crystal, but all the editing was done by me. I do have to mention this because Crystal may not edit like I do, and may not even like the way I edit… SO… she took the pictures, posed us, made us laugh, made us feel comfortable, and I edited the files. Oh, and I have to say that we made her laugh too… At least, she seemed to be cracking up quite a bit

Awwww, now off to the sappy, mushy, and lovely part! I could go on and on about these two people below… especially this pretty AMAZING boy in the blue shirt, but I’ll let you decide for yourselves. Love it, hate it, don’t care of it… it’s your prerogative… Nonetheless this man make me happy every minute of the day, every day. 15-years we have known each other, 15-seconds is all it takes for me to be laughing when I’m around him.

Wow has this past year gone fast or what?

Seems like it was just yesterday I was still pregnant, and ready to give birth to this little bundle of love. You see… when I found out I was having a boy, it was absolutely one of the best moments of my life. Although a girl would have been just as precious, a boy is truly what I wanted. Jaxon was born shortly after my dearest uncle died unexpectedly. He was also born on my deseased grandmother’s birthday. When Jaxon arrived into this world, he was so beautiful, healthy, and came in our lives at a time that we really needed a ray of light. What an emotional day it was!

I have often wondered why I was left alone to take care of a little baby. Didn’t understand the meaning of it all. Even though at times, I still struggle, I now understand very much so, that Jaxon was my source of energy. The one that kept me busy, busy…kept my mind off things…through all the sleepless nights, the cries, the hardship of raising a son by yourself. Then I soon realize that I am not alone. I have my family, my daughter, my friends, and GOD. I couldn’t make it whitout them. Every morning I go get him in his crib, and I ALWAYS have the same feeling. A feeling of happiness, joy, thankfulness, gratefulness. Grateful for a little boy that will walk this shoes below, over and over, until one day he grows up to be a wonderful, kind, respectful, intelligent young man.

Jaxon may your first birthday be the beggining of many, many more. Always know that Kam and I will always be here for you, and as you grow up, we will be here to tell you about this time in our life, be here to help you when you need it, be here to hold your hand when you’re falling, be here to do life with you. Now and forever.

I love you mon titi!!!

Today we went to look for some new, fresh, shooting locations… although I didn’t really find anything that caught my eye, and found myself returning to my usual spots, Kameryn was really interested in posing today. She had her violin in the car so we took that opportunity to use it as a prop. We only spent a few minutes doing this… most of the time was spent in the car driving around. I must say that Miss Kam was a good companion today!

Today I stayed home with Jaxon… He was sick! Didn’t feel good, crying, cranky, not sleeping, not eating… you know, all that fun stuff. Took him to the doc, and sure enough he has another ear infection and a respiratory infection. No wonder he was up ALL night!!! So we spent the day together and because he had a few good moments, I took a few shots of this little angel. He is sound asleep at the moment, and the house is so peaceful. Let’s hope he sleeps through the night, because that does not happen often these days!!!

When I have to get ready, or just take a shower, or brush my teeth… I take the ipad with us in the bathroom, and that is what he is watching to keep him busy, while I do my stuff

Going home to me is going to Montreal, Canada. It is where I was born, and where I spent half of my life before coming to this great state of Texas. Although I LOVE Texas, I still love Montreal, and I miss it often. The city is where I belong. I’m not a country girl. Don’t try and move me to a house where there’s nothing around… I won’t follow I feel most at peace when surrounded by raggedy, old buildings. Walking in the streets of Montreal, is to me a breath of fresh air. I feel like this is where I am most ME. Montreal is a beautiful city. Even though it is big, dirty, and smells like beer most of the time, I absolutely love it. The shopping there is marvelous, although the prices are a bit extreme. The food is scrumptious!!!! Each time the plane lands in this beautiful country, I know that this high will not last long, but I enjoy every minute of it.

These images are from a trip I took there in May for a few days. I am surrounded by my dear friends and family. I hope you enjoy them, just as much as I do. Everyone of these images, brings such a sense of me… they are moments I will always remember.

Let me introduce you to a few of my people…

This little collection of images below is so us… My friends who I’ve known for over 25-years!! We grew up together, and to this day talk all the time. They are both beautiful people with big hearts. I LOVE you guys!!!

Meet Simon. He’s Italian. He smokes. He drinks a gazillion coffee cups a day. He drinks wine. He’s silly. He laughs. He’s a goof ball. He’s my sister’s boyfriend. He’s a good hearted man. I love him dearly.

Meet my uncle Clex. He is a biker. A bike racer. A gentle soul. A wise man. A kind man. A handsome man. An angel.

I wanted to wrap this building up and put it in my pocket and bring it to Texas. Oh the things I could do there for photography!

The image below is a Cathedral. It’s huge and absolutely beautiful inside. This is where you go when you REALLY need God’s help. Actually… let me re-phrase… this is where I GO when I really need God’s help. I went…

There are hundreds of stairs to go up to. As you go up, you are supposed to pray and talk to God. I did… In heels I must add.

This is once you arrive at the top… it was such a great feeling!

These are everywhere in the Cathedral. You have to pay to light them. They were $5.00 each. I lit 4 of them. I prayed. The next day my prayer came true. No kidding!

Where I’m from we put our clothes outside like so… So fresh!!! Yes, we do have dryers too
