{The color purple – I♥FACES -}

This is my second time entering a photography contest on I♥FACES … The theme this week is {The color purple & one human face}… Well I think that this image below is beautiful, clean & sexy!  Of course with purple being a “must”, this image was perfect for the challenge.

{Our day at Beach City}

We had a wonderful day at the beach today.  We all got lots of sun, and despite me getting stung by a bee, the day was fantastic.  Cozy, not crowded, calm, and of course sunny… this beach was what I have been wishing for!  It was very relaxing.

I really hesitated before posting this image below.  8 1/2 months pregnant, and wearing a bikini?!  It only took me about 30-minutes to finally put it on, after Kyle telling me over and over that it was not a big deal.  It still didn’t feel completely right.  But oh well… it’s me & Kyler… and will be a good souvenir one day!

I LOVE this image below.  The water splashing in her face, the mud on her forehead, and her little pink lips are so cute!

{6-Years old…}

6-Years ago today, I gave birth  to my beautiful, intelligent, funny, special & and most of all caring daughter.   After 26-hours of labor, there she was starring at me, with her little eyes wide open, so alert.   She has been such a  joyful soul to have around, and she continues every day to surprise us with how smart she is.  She will be entering first grade this year, and we are looking forward to taking this adventure with her.

So Miss Kameryn, may this year bring you lots of LOVE, joy & health.  We love you very much, and can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us.

Happy Birthday!!!!

{Colorful * Summer * Style}

I have been looking at these on etsy.com for a while now, but could never decide on which ones to get, or if I really wanted to spend the money with shipping and handing charges…

So what I decided to do is to make my own.  That way I could pick the colors, and really create what I had in mind… Now I’m not ready to share how long it actually took me to make those 2… but let’s just say that I will get better with time :)  One is a headband, and the other is barrette that can be put anywhere in the hair.

Aren’t they precious?

{Simple Editing}

One of the many things I have learned in photo school this year, is to spend more time ‘shooting’ the correct way, and spend less time editing.  Time is money right?  The  more time you spend sitting at your computer, is less time you have to shoot.  As my professor Rhonda Hole would state, “Do it right the first time”.

Here’s in a example of my ‘editing’ steps… the first image is straight out of the camera (RAW) format.  The second image is the steps that I took to edit it.  You can see how a few simple tweaks, can actually make an image blossom!

{Shot with a Nikon D90,  A 90mm f2.8 Tamron Portrait Lens, Edited in Lightroom and CS5}

Adjusted the levels a little along with the brightness/contrast
With the sponge tool, saturated the suitcase a bit
Used the Florabella ‘Wheat’ Action to bring out the colors
Sharpened the image and VOILA!

{Very simple editing, but makes a great difference}
